Super Tuesday Needham Results

In case you want to geek out on elections stuff, the view from my little corner of the world. Precinct H and G, specifically. For context, according to Needham Times, Needham has 6,641 registered Democrats, 2,511 registered Republicans and 10,244 unenrolled voters--for a total (by my math) of 19,396 registered Needham voters.

Update 3: Compare yesterday's MA results with 2008 Presidential Primary results.:
  • 2008: Romney got 255,982 in MA. (1,745 in Needham)
  • 2012: Romney: 265,097 in MA. (1,831 in Needham)
  • In 4 years, Romney saw an increase of 9,115 votes (86 in Needham)--a mere 4% (5% in Needham).
And it appears this voter enthusiasm problem for the Republicans is playing out nationally: Republican turnout woes intensify (DKos, 3/7/2012)

Update 2: Full Needham Results at the Needham Town Clerk website. Direct link here. Will excerpt any interesting information as the whim/notice grabs me.  The Needham Patch has excellent rundown of the main races and Needham breakdown.

(MORE AFTER THE FLIP)

Update: Boston.com posts town-by-town results: 2012 Massachusetts Republican Presidential Primary results - Boston.com (3/6/2012) and the Democratic Results here

Obama received a total of 127,258 121,107 votes from Massachusetts.  Romney received 265,097 249,324 total votes in MA. So without a contest (and thus w/o a reason for voters to turn out), Obama still got just about 1/2 the # votes as Romney (48%).

Here's what I know as of 8:41PM: Caveat--. Below: ONLY precincts G/H (ie, where *I* vote)!

PRECINCTS G AND H:
  • 710 TOTAL ballots cast*
  • 188 Democratic ballots (26% of total)
  • 521 Republican ballots (73% of total)
Per Boston Globe, total Needham votes for Obama = 741.
Obama received over 85% of the Democratic vote. : ) Total Romney votes from Needham: 1,831.

Romney received 413 votes, for 79% of the vote. (188 in G, 225 in H)
Santorum: 46 votes, 9% (26 in G, 20 in H).

For the one contested race for Democrats: State Committee (Male Seat)

Needham Blank Settan Holloway Wilson
H 24 23 34 5
G 36 20 38 7
TOTAL 60 43 72 12
32% 23% 39% 6%

UPDATE: Thomas Holloway wins Needham (174 votes). (Incumbent Settana: 101; Challenger Wilson: 28)

UPDATE: Settana wins the seat. Holloway edges Settana out in the non-Boston neighborhoods, but it's not enough:
VOTE TOTAL: Settana: 1,698 (50%). Hollowway 1,060 (31%), Wilson 667 (19%)Non-Boston votes only: Settana 820 / 41% Holloway 891 / 45% Wilson 285 / 14%
I'll link over to any new information from the Patch as I find it.

*compare to the ~750 votes cast from Precincts G-H in the last LOCAL election, April 2011.
